Abstract:

In the complex landscape of disability and NDIS services, professionals frequently encounter individuals with ‘invisible’ or perhaps undiagnosed disabilities—those whose challenges are not immediately apparent yet profoundly impact their ability to engage with supports. Many of these individuals have a history of disengagement, crisis-driven intervention, and difficulty maintaining consistent services, leaving them underserviced and at risk.

This presentation will explore a range of practical, evidence-informed strategies that are proving effective in fostering meaningful engagement and long-term connection with these clients. Attendees will gain insights into innovative approaches that go beyond traditional service delivery, addressing key barriers such as trauma history, executive functioning challenges, and sensory processing differences.

Additionally, we will discuss the power of truly collaborative multi-disciplinary teams. When clinicians and support providers move beyond siloed practices and adopt consistent, client-centred approaches, the impact is significant—leading to greater trust, improved stability, and better outcomes overall.

Attendees will leave this session with actionable techniques to enhance their practice, strengthen collaboration across disciplines, and ultimately improve service retention and success for clients who need it most. Whether you are an allied health professional, NDIS provider, or working in a complex care setting, this presentation offers valuable takeaways to refine your approach and make a lasting difference.

Join us as we uncover what’s working, what’s possible, and how we can collectively bridge the gap for some of our most vulnerable clients.
