Abstract

BACKGROUND:
It is critical Social Workers be knowledgeable in their digital workflows that capture their service activity as their data can guide and advocate their service from a local to national level.
AIM:
To investigate the knowledge and confidence of common digital workflows in Cerner PowerChart and Scheduler that capture performance indices of Social Worker clinicians at SLHD .
METHODS:
A virtual 16 item Microsoft Form questionnaire was developed targeting confidence and application of Allied Health Cerner PowerChart and Scheduler digital workflows including service activity form submission; monitoring and responding to inpatient referrals; and outpatient/ community patient management (patient registration and appointment book accessibility). This questionnaire was distributed via the Social Work Director via email to those clinicians within their directorate. Settings within the Microsoft Form questionnaire were configured to remove the ability to collect any clinician identifying information.
RESULTS:
Of those Social Workers that completed the questionnaire (n=36), 80% (n=29) of respondents reported confidence completing digital service activity forms. Interestingly though, 17% (n=6) were unable to identify correct encounter and correctly calculate patient related time. Forty-one percent (n=15) incorrectly identified the process of reporting discharged patient interactions. Of inpatient clinicians, 51% (n=35) did not have their electronic referral list set up and those that did, only 23% (8/35) indicate in the system their referral has been actioned post assessment.

DISCUSSION AND CLINICAL IMPLICATIONS:
This unique initiative and findings highlight a variable clinician understanding of the correct digital workflows required to maintain Social Work data integrity.
