Abstract:

The 6 Regional Local Health Networks and RSS have a collective response to Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence (DFSV). This has been instrumental in the roll out of a service response and training package in relation to DFSV. Without this collective response, raising voice of regional/remote communities from a place of unity, we would not be where we are today. The regional LHNs have endorsed the Ask Assess Respond (AAR) Procedure and established regional LHN Prevention and Response to Violence Abuse and Neglect (PARVAN) Steering Committee, PARVAN Clinical Network, developed AAR training packages, facilitator guide and a clinical guide. The RSS and regional LHN facilitate regular AAR training for regional LHN clinical staff. The intention of the AAR procedure is to build the capacity of clinical staff in regional LHNs who encounter victim/ survivors of DFSV to understand and identify the signs and risks of DFSV, assist and support and refer victim/ survivors to specialist DFSV services. Regional LHNs utilise the newly established Activity Based Funding (ABF) Tier 2 code 40.65 Violence Abuse and Neglect (VAN) to capture service delivery responses for consumers experiencing DFSV. Throughout the development of these tools, we have held in mind that the consumers we serve are part of our community; they are our family, neighbours, friends, colleagues, children. Often, we know them personally, their stories are our stories. This is why regional clinicians are dedicated to improving the outcomes. The impacts of DFSV are felt by the whole community.
